Action :
Diuretic, lithotriptic, aphrodisiac, nervine, anti-spasmodic, tonic, cooling, and the dried fruits are used in cases of spermatorrhoea, phosphaturia, diseases of genito-urinary tract such as dysuria, gonorrhoea, chronic cystitis, calculous affections, urinary disorders, incontinence of urine, gout and impotence also in uterine disorders after parturition.
The seeds are strengthening and the ash of plant is good for external application in rheumarthritis. diuretic, dispels dysuria, lithotriptic, increases sexual appetite, sperm purifier
Indications :
URINARY :
Bladder or kidney infections, stones pain, retention, cloudy, bleeding.
It soothes the urinary tract membranes and promotes urination. Specific for prostate problems, urinary retention or obstructed urinary flow.
REPRODUCTIVE :
As a tonic herb it nourishes the shukradhatu (Tissus reproducteurs). It increases virility, fertility, sperm production and lactation. It rejuvenates the reproductive system, especially the uterus and the gonads. Used in infertility and impotence.
NERVE :
Useful in all aggravations of the nervous system and Vata. It draws all three dosha downwards. Headaches, hives, itchy skin, eye inflammations.
Even though it is diuretic it has a moistening and nourishing effect on the mucus membranes. It is a rejuvenative (Rasayana) for Pitta and a balancer for Vata. It specifically moves apanavayu downwards.
Contraindications :
- Dryness.
- Caution in pregnancy as it moves downwards.
Dosage :
1 teaspoon before breakfast mixed with hot water
1 - 10 g per day as decoction
